A scholar was visited by an American tourist. He was astounded to discover that the scholar’s residence was a plain, simple room. A mat and an earthen water pot were the only pieces of furniture. Scholar', with due respect, may I ask where your furniture and other household items are?' 'Where is yours?' says scholar 'Mine?' says the tourist. But I'm just passing through.' 'So am I,' says scholar. The moral of the story is that we are only visitors in this world, and we should not try to find connections in the material world."
